Understanding the Earth element

The Earth element represents solid form and structure. Earth is expressed in dense physical form: our bones, muscles, skin, hair, and nails.

“Earths” are patient, stable and kind.

Earths naturally live in a more calm state and are able to keep their energy grounded and evenly balanced. They are organized, pragmatic and structured by nature. Earths remind us that we must create a strong foundation in order to build. They are extremely loyal and make others feel safe and secure.

Earths have a solid and strong physical structure and move steadily with purpose. They have a tendency to hold onto things, such as fat, emotions, possessions, and the past. Their digestion can become slow and they can become overweight if they are too grounded and do not foster enough stimulation.

Earths are trustworthy and always offer support when needed, but their lesson is to learn how to love and give back to themselves.

When Earths are in balance, they are perfectly grounded and show up stable and solid for themselves and others. When Earths are out of balance, they can become lethargic and experience physical weight gain and emotional heaviness, where they feel overly responsible and “carry the weight of the world.” 

Balancing Your Earth element

Earth needs stimulation

Your Earth Body needs light, spicy, bitter foods for balancing. Enjoy fruits like lemons, limes, pears, apples, berries, pomegranates, and cranberries. Steam or roast veggies in minimal oils. Suggested vegetables include artichokes, asparagus, peas, leafy greens, spinach, and sprouts. Your best grains are quinoa, barley, and millet. Legumes include chickpeas and lentils. Avoid dairy, pasta and breads. Beneficial oils are flaxseed, extra virgin olive, and ghee. Garlic, ginger, cayenne, and black pepper will stimulate your palette and aid digestion. Don’t eat until you are hungry. Body treatments such as infrared saunas, steam rooms, invigorating scrubs, and massages are best.

Your Earth Mind needs to balance its heavy energy through liberating practices like forgiveness and releasing attachments. Letting go of possessions, people and thoughts that no longer serve you is freeing. Create a minimalist yet luxurious environment in your home or office. Start your day with movement. Lean on your community of friends to accomplish your goals and create accountability.

Your Earth Soul needs Breathwork, Qi Gong, walking meditations in nature, hot yoga, and KINRGY to feel invigorated. Breath of fire (in through the nose, out through the nose) ignites you.
